Jim Denevan | Artist

“When I'm doing a drawing, I'm personifying the place that is empty. A place that is unmarked,” states Denevan.
I was first introduced to Jim's work by one of my favorite Photographer/film makers, Patrick Trefz. Patricks' beautiful film titled "Thread" has some amazing imagery of Jim at work on a California beach. I later came across these photos on Juxtapoz and wanted to share them with you.

Not only does their 4Season fabric shed rain and dirt, dry fast and resist wear and tear, but it also a low impact fabric, made with tight emissions standards that ensures it's produced with the absolute minimum amount of waste.
If they promise not to rip on the pockets and wear in the crouch I could justify the $180 price tag.

Meredith Dittmar | Artist

This is incredible work by Portland based 35 year old Meredith Dittmar. A Flash designer/ developer turned amazingly talented clay sculpture a few months back. 

Her work makes my jaw drop. The detail is extraordinary. I would love to see these up close. 

She currently has an exhibition at Upper Playground Mexico City from December 9th.

Its finally here! The First Days of Spring  A Film by Noah and The Whale.
This film is beautifully shot and I'm loving this new tread from bands with introducing films based around albums. I think its a really amazing combination.
Charlie Fin, the lead singer of the band, has created a 45 minute long movie that accompanies and is scored by their newest album, The First Days of Spring.
From what I’ve been able to put together the film is about life and death, love and loss. The whole thing was shot in 8 days on a small budget, but I really don’t think you can tell.
Take your time and watch it....

The Best Art Vinyl 2009 shortlist will be featured in exhibitions at the Art Vinyl Gallery at Selfridges on Oxford St, London, the Snap Galleries in Birmingham, and the Georges House Gallery in Folkestone. The nominating panel for the shortlist of 50 sleeves are: Mark Sinclair (Creative Review), Spencer Hicks (Rough Trade East), John Doran (editor, The Quietus) and Andrew Heeps (Director, Art Vinyl). All of the designs will be displayed in the unique Art Vinyl Play & Display Flip Frame. The winning designs will be displayed from January 2010.

The Pinch El Light | Shinyoung Ma

The Pinch El(Electroluminescence) Light by designer Shinyoung Ma. This Pinch El Light includes the cable, a memo holder clip and a graphic EL sheet. Aside from lighting, you can even hang some photos or frames with it, giving you interchangeable lighting options. Unfortunately it is just a concept now. Hopefully we will see it out there soon. I think it would look ace!
