Creepy McCain got kicked off the stage and Mighty Obama was elected the President of the United States.
The first black president in the white house!
It was the biggest voting turn out in history. Stories were shared about waiting in line for hours when usually the booths are empty.
I spent the night in Brooklyn, NY.
Watching the election unfold on a projector screen in the Diamond, the nervous energy could of been cut with McCains long finger nails. The votes were heading in Obamas favor but after the Bush vs Gore election no one was getting ahead of themselves.
The state of California was announced Obama and the room exploded.
People were cheering, crying, hugging, screaming, laughing, staring, dancing... singing!
It was the biggest orgy of relief and excitement I have ever seen.
I head up to Bedford Ave were I run into a a mass of people packing the footpaths. Yelling, chanting, singing, dancing. There was a weird vibe that something crazy was going to happen.
All of a sudden everyone explodes off the footpath and take over the streets. Cars are at stand still, bikers are blocking streets with their bikes, car stereos are blaring and the street party has started! I wandered around and to soak up what's going on around me. I am not a stranger to hugs but I have never hugged so many strangers in my life!
It was amazing.
There was movement everywhere. So many smiles and OBAMA love.
After a while a helicopter flies over and a swat van appears. Party's over.
Police line the streets. They push through the crowd leaving people battered and bruised behind them. The night ends in violence.
Amazing how something so festive can turn into a war zone in a matter of minutes.
Such surge of emotions in one night.
