The Flaming Lips “I Can Be A Frog”
This is the latest video from the Flaming Lips. It features a nice looking young lady in a bikini doing animal impersonations. Everyone loves animals and bikinis.
Can you guess who the female voice is??? None other then the wonderful Karen O from Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Appears that animal noises seems to be her specialty!

London.....
Today is my first day in London. Jetlag of 6hrs has really confused the system!
Super excited to see all the old friends and so THANKFUL to Vicky and the rest of the Bayston crew for having me to stay and sharing their vegemite. Dinner last night was amazing! Managed to get to Kentish Town to pick up a bike then rode to Stoke Newington on NO sleep and a terrible red wine hangover. I passed out very soon after this and now claim today as my first day. Bicycle Film Festival starts tonight with a group ride through London Central and afterparty at the Barbican. Will have some fun photos for you all tomorrow.
For now I'm off to explore the motherland................

New Banksy in Croydon and Film clip with Thom Yorke.
Yeah I know that Croydon has hardly been high on Banksy's hit list but take a look at this new piece fresh out of the can and tell me who else could have done this?

A punk struggles to get to grips with assembling a Large Graffiti Slogan from IEAK.
Fantastic detailing and colouring (check the shading on the hoodie and box for starters) and a witty statement juxtaposing the difficulties of assembling flat pack furniture with getting a revolution off the ground mark this out as nailed on Banksy piece. The reference to IKEA stretches further than may be immediatley apparent - in the view of the piece below you can see the twin towers of IKEA's Croydon branch with their distinctive yellow and blue rings.

A little bit more about the location itself; it's sandwiched between billboards and next to a tram stop. It's already picked up a bit of extra detailing but lets hope it lasts a bit longer than other recent ground level pieces....

New Thom Yorke - "Feeling Pulled Apart By Horses/The Hollow Earth"

September 21,2009 marks the day that the new Thom Yorke 12 inch "Feeling Pulled Apart By Horses/The Hollow Earth"will be sent out.
The songs are pretty much leftover B- Sides and Demos but very much a must have for any Radiohead fan, Thom describe what's on the record:
Dear Sir or Madam
This is to inform you of the release of two more bits of work shortly.
They are loosely under the Thom Yorke name this time, although these days its all getting kind of blurry.
FeelingPulledApartbyHorses is written & played by Jonny and I and is a radical rework of an old tune thats been kicking around without a home since 2001? i think.
The Hollow Earth is a bass menace that was born out of the Eraser period but needed a little more time.
Both were produced by Nigel Godrich as ever. And mastered by Bob Ludwig.
They are being put out on 12" with sliced sleeve by Stanley and Tchock.
My sources tell me this will be available from the 21st of September if you're interested.. On sale in the w.a.s.t.e part of our website (with a gratis download.)
Or you can go buy it in a good record shop if you are lucky enough to have one near you. Then later on there will be like a normal download thing i think around the 6th of Oct through the usual channels.
And so it goes. all the best

Anna Rose - During her twenty-four years on Earth as what she calls a "rock kid," there have been great passions in Anna Rose's life, and then there has been music. "More than anything, I have always straight-up just totally and truthfully loved it," she says.
Always, she has known she would perform and record as a singer, songwriter, and guitarist-pianist who would release an album such as Nomad, her upcoming debut, which she co-produced with William (Billy) Sullivan, five songs from which comprise her sensational current Anna Rose EP. And always she has been a little nuts about guitars. She started playing at age 5, after an older cousin brought one along to a holiday family gift exchange.
On Anna Rose, songs like the guitar-rich '"Picture" and the atmospheric ballad "Wilshire Blvd." proceed with an elegant ruggedness that comes from Anna Rose's life-long attraction to rock and roll from the halcyon days of '60s and '70s southern California, and she sings them with an effortless-sounding soprano gravity. "I love that Mulholland Drive, rock-songwriter, star-tripped, holed-up-in-a-house-drinking-gin-and-smoking-weed-writing-songs thing," she says. "I think that's why I moved to California when I was 18, and the place will always be that to me, even though it wasn't that for me. I remember driving up on Mulholland Drive, for example, one night after I'd played one of my gigs in L.A. I was with Billy Sullivan, my co-producer on 'Nomad'. It was like I had found a place in the music world."

Bibliographic
Bibliographic is one of those books that you could spend hours with!
To pick up designer Jason Godfrey’s latest Laurence King published title is to pick up a wealth of design publications – just not as heavy. Charting 100 of the finest titles to have ever been published, we are treated to a range of subjects and authors that would make a design buff weak at the knees. So, with such a huge amount of worthy pieces to choose from, how did Jason manage to whittle the selection down to a mere ton? And what titles just missed out on inclusion?
Here is an interview with Jason....

Here is an interview with Jason....
Morning Jason, can you tell us a little about the ‘Bibliographic’ for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet?
My aim was to create the ideal studio library of graphic design books and put this into a book format. I had always felt that there was a need for a visual reference to that could give flesh to many reading lists that have been published. There are 100 titles in the book and each is shown with its cover and a number of spreads to it give a flavour of the original.Just how difficult was it to narrow down to 100?
It was enjoyable to put the final list together, although there were some hard decisions as there are plenty of books that could easily justify being in the book. The really tricky choices were the more recent books as it is difficult to know whether they will become classic points of reference, time will tell if I made the right choices on these books. Are all the books chosen your own?
About 60% of the books are mine, the rest were kindly borrowed from other peoples collections and some of the rarest and most valuable books belong to the St Bride Printing Library. What is the purpose of a design book?
Design books are no different to any other book category, the best books are there to inform and entertain. There are many different ways for a graphic designer to solve a client’s problems and therefore many varying stories to tell. Books such as type specimens, sourcebooks and anthologies are also invaluable tools in the creative process, as are books of critical and historic interest. What omissions were the most difficult to decide on? If you could have chosen 101, what would have been your extra choice?
My 101st book would have been The Visible Word, Herbert Spencer, Lund Humphries, 1969. It is a fascinating book of research on the legibility of type, which unusually for a design book is scientific in outlook and presentation yet contains a very rich array of visual references. What’s on your shopping list to add to the library?
Karl Gerstner’s Compendium for Literates, The MIT Press, 1974 a major treatise on the display of text. One other book is Art Without Boundaries, Gerald Woods, Philip Thompson and Paul Williams, Thames and Hudson, 1972 a collection of artists and designers between 1950 and 1970 who blurred the traditional lines of fine and applied arts.Oh, The Temptation from Steve V on Vimeo.
Sorry for all the videos lately but I just couldnt resist this one. So f*cking cute!
Something i'll be attending in London next week....
GLUG LONDON PRESENTS SO TOGETHER : SEPTEMBER 24th 2009

Togetherness is what Glug is all about, from humble beginnings we have been bringing together creative people for beer, hanging out and looking at stuff we think is cool.
Now, on September 24th in time for both London Design Festival and Digital Week, we are set to host the biggest most adventurous Glug yet, taking over all three floors of incredible East End summer venue The Queen of Hoxton. Our hosts this time are Studio Output, who in keeping with our love of togetherness are sharing the roof, bar and basement with some of their favourite collaborative artists and agencies from the last year.
Illustrator Bob London, the Waste Yourself artists, photographer Nick Andrews, artist Richard Paul, animator Merlin Nation, interior designers Macaulay Sinclair, interactive agency AllofUs, trend research consultancy GDR and Adobe will all be showing work around the venue. There will also be live screen-printing of exclusive tees and the opportunity to be a part of Nick Andrews’ ‘Lyrical Theatre’ shoot.
Music comes courtesy of DJ Jsquared from Breakin Bread radio while up and coming band Kid Love Lies play the basement.

House of Holland T-shirt design by Sophie Stephens

London based illustrator and stylist Sophie Stephens has a humorous and unique take on today’s fashion and celebrities. Even her final year guerilla art campaign project, entitled ‘Style makes me Sick’ pushed the boundaries. Stephens infiltrated Topshop changing rooms everyday with illustration saying “No More Heroes”, challenging what we think is fashionable and making us rethink how we put celebrities on pedestals. Stephens has done work for various magazines including Love, Fact and Know Magazine, and collaborated with Julian and Noel from The Mighty Boosh to make flyer. Her thoughts, work and ideas can be seen on her blog: http://blackpendiaries.blogspot.com/.
