Siftables - Intelligent Blocks
Siftables are an experiment into physical interfaces in the form of intelligent blocks. Each block is aware of it’s location, orientation and proximity to it’s neighbours. Each is fitted with a screen on the face, and wifi connection. They act as a single interface, with surprising applications. Watch the vid. You can start to imagine all sorts of applications. BRAND NEW- HEARTLESS BASTARDS MUSIC
Fresh from Heartless Bastards comes Erika Wennerstrom's solo acoustic version of "Searching for the Ghost" off of 2006's All This Time. It's a great song and the acoustic version adds extra highlights to Erika's beatiful and unique voice.

Sonic Youth's New Album..

Sonic Youth’s name is now half-ironic, but the iconic rockers are still putting out material at a healthy clip. Their new album, “The Eternal,” is due in June, and Rolling Stone has a preview of it, along with a headline that makes the usual grand claims: “most diverse record yet from indie-rock vets,” “predictably stellar.”
The Decemberists - Design their new album cover!!

On March 18th, The Decemberists will give the debut live performance of their epic new song cycle The Hazards of Love when they headline NPR Music's SXSW showcase at Stubb's in Austin. To mark the occassion, Capitol Records (who will release the album on March 24) and Imeem are inviting fans to design the official poster for the showcase with a contest -- the winning design will be hand-picked by the band and contestants can enter here:
http://www.imeem.com/thedecemberistsfans
As previously announced, The Decemberists will play The Hazards of Love, in sequence, in its entirety. Joining all five members of the band on stage will be Lavender Diamond’s Becky Stark and My Brightest Diamond’s Shara Worden, who lend leading vocals to the album. Opening bands are North Carolina trio The Avett Brothers, set to debut songs from its forthcoming album produced by Rick Rubin, and bluesy rockers Heartless Bastards, riding the success of its third record, The Mountain. The concert will begin at 10pm CST and will be streamed live, archived and podcast at www.NPR.org/sxsw, and will be available for broadcast on NPR Member stations across the country.

Well Done kiddies!!!....
The Protist
These brothers are awesome... not only to they produce kick arse mixed media pieces but they also dabble in music and film. Talk about a creative explosion. These guys rock.
Check them out!! The Protist....

The Protist was formed in 2007 by brothers Matt and Justin Kleiner, with the simple intention of it being a channel for their creative output. With both brothers having a background in music, visual art, and design, The Protist is a fusion of all those disciplines. Their focus is to create works that cross and combine mediums, while retaining a unified vision that ties everything together.

Raymond Pettibon
Probably one of my favorite artists of all time!
Known best for his work with Black Flag and his comic-like drawings with disturbing, ironic or ambiguous captions, Pettibon's subject matter is sometimes violent and anti-authoritarian.
I found this great interview with The Believer and I thought I would share it with you!!

Canon D10 Water, Shock and Freeze Proof Camera

Besides being shock, water (up to 33 feet) and freeze-proof (down to 14 degrees F), it's got a 12 megapixel sensor (like most of Canon's new line) and will shoot VGA video (unlike the most of the line, which shoots 720p video). Despite being tough, it actually feels pretty nice in your hand, though it won't fit in your pocket (unless you've got old school JNCOs). If you're not a fan of the blue, it'll have other plates, like orange and camo. I want to love it, so I hope it shoots nice pictures. It'll be $US330 when it comes out stateside in May.

Andrew Bird
Not a Robot, But A Bird by Andrew Bird
Andrew Bird released Noble Beasts on January 20, and the guy is definitely back in a good way. When I first got this album I listened to it non-stop, and I’m sure I’ll see this album on my best of the year list. Also be sure to check out the second, instrumental disc called Useless Creatures.

The Engravers Are Back!
Joe used to make some amazing engraved moleskins. Turns out that laser engraving the surface, although it looked fantastic, produced fairly toxic gases! So Joe’s been cooking up a new plan - customizable leather moleskin slip covers. Which are of course reusable, and age beautifully. Choose from a selection of hot illustrator’s designs or upload your own. See the range of artists here. Details of the covers, their materials, and neat features here. .....
Brad Pitt by Chuck Close
Above is the cover of the new W magazine. Brad Pitt seriously looks beat in Chuck Close's signature style. You got to give Bradley some credit, because these days stars just don't look like this on the cover of a fashion magazines, most of them are pursuing the wrinkle-less alien look. So this is rusty in the refreshing way.
To have a comparison, here is another one by Martin Schoeller.
